Tooth Fillings
What are tooth fillings?
Dental fillings are a common restorative dental treatment used to repair teeth that have been damaged by decay, cracks, or fractures. The filling material is used to restore the tooth's shape, function, and strength, while also preventing further decay or damage.

What to expect during your visit at Mr. Dentist:
- Examination: When you arrive at the office, you will likely be asked to fill out some paperwork, and then you will be taken to the dental chair. Dr. Plonski will then examine your teeth, and he may take X-rays to determine the extent of the decay.
- Anesthesia: Once Dr. Plonski has identified the cavity, he will numb the area with local anesthesia to ensure you don't feel any pain during the procedure. You may feel a slight pinch as the anesthesia is injected, but after that, you should not feel any discomfort.
- Drilling: The next step is to remove the decayed part of the tooth with a drill. The dentist will carefully remove the decayed portion of the tooth, and the process may take a few minutes.
- Cleaning: After the decay has been removed, the dentist will clean the cavity to ensure that there is no debris or bacteria left behind.
- Filling: Once the cavity has been cleaned, the dentist will fill the space with a filling material. There are different types of filling materials available, including silver amalgam, composite resin, and glass ionomer. Dr. Plonski will recommend the best option for your specific case.
- Polishing: After the filling has been placed, the dentist will polish the surface of the tooth to ensure that it looks and feels smooth.
- Post-Procedure: After the procedure, you may experience some numbness in the area for a few hours. It is recommended that you avoid eating or drinking anything until the numbness wears off to prevent accidentally biting your tongue or cheek. Dr. Plonski will also provide you with specific aftercare instructions to follow, which may include avoiding certain foods or drinks for a short period.
